Sullivans / Station 25

Built in 1895, this neglected bungalow with an attached kitchen house was a Sullivans Island landmark property lacking proper foundations and any semblance of privacy on its exposed corner lot.  A carefully scaled two story addition joined by a narrow hyphen and deep back porch overlooking the new diving pool redirected the interior views and restored the property’s tranquility.  A new hand-crimped metal roof joined these disparate elements into a cohesive whole.  The project’s ambitious scope was only exceeded by the trust and enthusiasm offered by my clients, who lived a continent away.
